Yann Gross，1981年生于瑞士沃韦。他现在是洛桑艺术与设计大学的教师。Kitintale系列是他在2008-2009年间在乌干达拍摄的作品，镜头中的玩滑板的孩子有的羞赧、有的文静、有的乖张、有的野性十足。关于这个系列，他说道：

“我喜欢关注人们的身份意识、梦想、社区归属感。我对聚居在一起的人们以及他们创造的次文化真的很感兴趣。乌干达第一批玩滑板的人是从电视节目获得启发，但是他们附近并没有可供练习的水泥地。于是，他们在没有政府和NGO支持的情况下在乌干达首都坎帕拉的郊区Kitintale建造了东非第一个滑板公园。滑板让乌干达的孩子们克服了无聊、忘记了贫穷，意义深远。因为滑板可以让年轻人变得忙碌而没有闲暇去养成不良习惯，而且人人都有了一种社区的归属感。年长的滑板手还能成为类似于老师的角色。他们谈论许多乌干达家庭面临诸如爱滋、瘴气等话题，并试着让年幼者形成正确的价值观，比如尊重和团结等等。”

Yann Gross was born in 1981 in Vevey, Switzerland. He is a teacher at University of Art & Design Lausanne (ECAL). The Kitintale series is his newest works from Uganda during 2008-2009. Here is his statement of this series:

“I mostly focus my work on identities, dreams and senses of belonging to communities. I’m really interested the way people come together and create their own subculture. The first Uganda skateboarders were inspired by the television, but hadn’t any concrete to practice on in their neighborhood. They built the only skatepark of East Africa with their own hand in Kitintale, a working class suburb of Kampala. With no assistance from government or large NGO’s, kids from Uganda took significant steps to overcome boredom and poverty through skateboarding. Skateboarding keeps the youth busy, combats the development of negative habits and develops a sense of belonging to a community. The elder skateboarders became also kind of educators. They talk about the problems that many Ugandan families are facing like HIV or malaria and try to inculcate values such as respect and solidarity among the younger ones.”

Sophie Brasey was born in 1985 in Vevey, Switzerland. From 2006 to 2009 She studied in Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne(ECAL), majoring in photography.
